"I knew you weren't going to turn me in."
I recently worked on an academic paper about Identity Theft for my online work. In addition to this, Intellectual Property (as a field of law) is one of the things I fell in love with this summer. Needless to say now that the movie "Identity Thief" (2013) caught my attention by merely seeing its title.
For the first few minutes of the movie, I felt really pissed with the lead female character. She has this way of living her life without any feeling of guilt or repentance for what she has been doing - stealing identity of people. I sympathized with the male character as he was about to lose his job. However, I also got annoyed by his apparent physical 'weakness' which was I think, an attempt of the movie to add some humor in it.
I ended up liking the film after I watched it in its entirety. It presents something that is contemporary and major issue in the globalizing world. The good thing I liked with this movie is that in spite of the seriousness of the theme - criminal liabilities, job at stake, financial distress, it was able to add humor to various scenes. It was also able to focus on themes that appeal to human emotions - love for family and friendship.
