JAPAN 2015 - Kobe, Kyoto, Osaka (Kansai)

We visited the Nunobiki Herb Gardens and Ropeway! It was my first time to ride a cable car. My fear of heights got my knees trembling at first. The flowers, trees and plants there are lovely! When you are up there, you will also have a beautiful view of Kobe.

Since Kobe is a port city, a trip to Kobe is not complete without going to the Kobe Port Tower.

There are lovely European style houses in the Kobe Kitano district.

There is also a China Town in Kobe.

Sannomiya and Ikuta districts are very much alive at night!

Kyoto is my favorite city in the Kansai region. There are a lot of cultural sites. The city is a perfect balance of culture, nature and modernity. I loved Kyoto so much – I can live there! In our first day in Kyoto, we went to three places: Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Kinkaku-ji (Golden Temple) and Fushimi Inari Shrine.

Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is a great place to unwind. If you are a fan of walks in the park and nature, this is the place to go! We really enjoyed walking along the bamboo path that the place took 5 hours of our time. It was very much worth our time. Before going into the woods, we had some delicious ramen to energize us for a long walk. We enjoyed a cone of matcha-flavored ice cream afterwards.

Our next stop is the Kinkaku-ji (Golden Temple). It is a lovely temple – a mixture of magic and peace. The temple is small but it looks so beautiful.

We also visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine. It is a long walk up a mountain, with a thousand of torii gates. I was not able to reach the top, though.

For our second day in Kyoto, we visited the following places: Kiyomizu Temple, Ginkaku-ji, Philosopher’s Walk, Gion Geisha District and Starbucks Sanjo.

My favorite spot in Kiyomizu Temple is the area where there are two stones called the “love stone.” Supposedly, when you walk from one stone and successfully reach the other stone with your eyes closed, you are about to find true love soon. I successfully reached the other stone, with my eyes closed! Well, it has been a year.

The Ginkaku-jj is also called the Silver Temple. The design is slightly similar to the Kinkaku-ji. The temple is also surrounded by waters.

We also took a walk along the Philosopher’s Walk. Since it was summer, there were no sakura flowers! It was still a great experience!

The Gion Geisha District is a place that is one-of-a-kind. You will easily recognize the district because of the built of the houses and establishments there. It is a great place to walk or bike in!

The Starbucks branch beside the Sanjo river is one of the best Starbucks branches I have been to. The place is very romantic! You would see couples dating there or individuals who seem to be reflecting on their lives. I wish I could spend an entire day in Starbucks Sanjo!

We visited Osaka. Osaka is a busy city. Thanks to Grai for touring us around. During our first day in Osaka, we rode the Hep Five Ferris Wheel! I was scared at first. I have fear of heights. I decided to conquer my fear so I can enjoy the view of Osaka!

Osaka is a haven for delicious Japanese food. We tried okonomiyaki, takoyaki, sushi and sashimi.

During our second day in Osaka, we went to Universal Studios. We had to go early to make sure we will be able to enter “Harry Potter.” The Universal Studios is a happy place – not necessarily my kind of “happy place” but my friend really enjoyed it there!

We visited Dotonbori and Shinshaibashi. Of course, I had a photo with the Glico Man.

My favorite place in Osaka is the Osaka Castle – I love parks!
